Digital camera with plastic cover

There are two kinds of digital photographers in the world: those that leave the plastic cover over the back of their camera, and those that don’t. I lost my cover long ago, and the image display on my D70s is consistently covered in noseprints.

Speaking of plastic and photography, my Dad remembers something he was told decades ago at the Nikon School of Photography.

The most important piece of equipment in your camera bag (apart from the camera, of course, which in fact should mostly be out of your camera bag) should be a plastic garbage bag.

Why?

Because no matter what you’re wearing, if you need to get down on the ground to shoot the world from a different perspective, you should always be prepared to do so.
